We were very sad to hear of the passing of Tony. We met him through Lee. He was always friendly and warm-hearted. His openness and kindness shone through and have been passed on to Lee and Jane, as has his love of music. Tony and Barbera were always welcoming and the whole family could never do enough to help. I’m sure his memory will live on for many years to come. Our deepest sympathies to all the family.

I arrived in hull to work at the College in 1988 and was warmly welcomed by Tony and Barbara's son Lee who introduced me to his mum and dad, they made me feel so secure and at home. I will always be grateful to share a part of his and their life, thank you Tony, I will never forget it, will always be with me. Thinking of you all and I know Tony will be proud of all of you, love Brian and Louisa.

What a lovely man Tony was; I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times back in the 1990s; and never have forgotten the warmth with which the whole Hartley family showed me. Am absolutely confident that memories of Tony will stay strong in all who knew him. Thinking of all the family and friends..
